The Highland Lakes Women’s Club consists of a diverse group of women from the Highland Lakes neighborhood in the northeast area of Shelby county in Birmingham. Our club holds 4 general meetings a year in the following months: October, December, February, and April.
Our goals are both social and community driven. Socially the club’s goals are to be the vehicle for old and new residence to meet and find common interest. Community driven goals are club nominated needs that assist the Highland Lakes area or the surrounding community. We have numerous special interest groups that you can sign up for as a benefit of joining the women's club. The HLWC is also involved with local charitable organizations.
Annual dues are $20.00 per year (due before or by the first meeting in October). This small fee helps to cover the cost of the newsletters, paper products for the monthly meetings, our website, mailings/flyers sent out to the members, and one neighborhood directory per member which is printed each year. We hope you will attend a meeting soon. We are certain you'll find the HLWC a wonderful way to meet your neighbors and make new friends, while also helping to make a difference in our community.
Membership Information Membership dues are only $20 annually. The membership year runs Sept - May and dues are "due" no later than the first meeting in October. There are four general meeting a year and many special interest groups that continue to meet year round. Neighborhood Directory The Women's Club publishes a neighborhood directory once a year for your convenience. Pick one up at a meeting or contact any officer to purchase one. The directory is printed each year in Nov./Dec. You may choose to place an advertisement in the directory. Prices range from $25 to $150 according to size and content. Please contact an officer to place an ad. We offer a free website ad with your paid directory ad.

Holiday Decorations The Highland Lakes Garden’s Club helps makes the holiday season even more special with beautiful gate decorations that are created and maintained. If you are interested in helping us create more decorations or if you would like to join the committee that puts up and takes down the decorations each year, please contact the Highland Lakes Garden Club President- Sherry Rice - taccia@bellsouth.net or call 981-0301. Sunshine Committee Highland Lakes Sunshine chairperson is Lynette Clemmons. Lynette’s role is to welcome new residents, babies, offer sympathy, etc. for the neighborhood. Fundraising/Charity The HLWC has various charities supported though events during the year. Various charities are highlighted at the meetings and voted on for support by our members. Newsletter/Website The newsletter and website has information related to both the Highland Lakes Women's Club and the Neighborhood. Information is distributed by mail and e-mail.
