The HLWC provides a welcoming environment for the women of our neighborhood. With four annual meetings and several special interest groups, we offer you the opportunity to meet neighbors, have fun, and become an active participant in community activities.
You'll see members of the HLWC volunteering time at HighlandLakes neighborhood activities like Movies in the Park, the Fall Festival, and Santa in the Park. We also promote our community by decorating the neighborhood every year at Christmas. In addition, members host a Frienndship Tea every other month that is open to all women in the neighborhood.
The Highland Lakes Women's Club (HLWC) has selected Hand in Paw as the charitable organization we will support this year. We are excited to partner with this wonderful group whose mission is "to improve human health and well-being through Animal-Assisted Therapy". Hand in Paw's programs are delivered in 100 medical centers, schools, and human service agencies throughout North Central Alabama - including several organizations our club has supported in the past. Our donations this year will help Hand in Paw reach more people in need - more than 100 sites are on their waiting list - and provide training for therapy dogs.
The 2017 Holiday Home Tour will took place on December 9, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. More than 200 residents and guests toured beautifully decorated Highland Lakes Homes! All proceeds from the Holiday Home Tour benefit Hand in Paw.
Along with TAZIKI'S, Highland Lakes Women's Club members are proud to offer a "Storking Service" that provides a dinner for four to families in Highland Lakes having a new baby! Contact Fran Stainback, firstname.lastname@example.org or (205) 401-8219, to coordinate delivery of the dinner to new parents.
We hope that you will attend a meeting soon. The meetings are held on the first Tuesday of October, December, February, and April. Dues are $20 per year and can be mailed to Nancy Smith, 2058 Knollwood Place, or paid at a meeting via cash, check, debit or credit card. Please contact any of our officers with questions!
